Are you tired of going to events at beautiful homes with exquisite kitchens only to see the kitchen is virtually trashed with caterer’s boxes, garbage bags, and trays? No guest could appreciate the beauty of these spaces!
When our clients came to us, they told us they were fond of entertaining. With this in mind, we designed probably one of the most important aesthetic and functional improvements in this home. We decided that rather than a huge kitchen, we would create a caterer’s prep kitchen adjacent to the main kitchen.
To meet the challenge of storing dishes and supplies for entertaining, the caterer’s prep kitchen has an abundance of cabinets and closets.
The caterer’s prep kitchen and the main kitchen are separated by a pocket door. By keeping the areas separate, the caterer’s kitchen helps remove the unsightly items from the main kitchen and allows for additional cooking and preparation with its double ovens, refrigerator, microwave, cook top, dishwasher, and ice maker.
There is a planning desk, with an iPad and TV, that doubles as a flower & centerpiece prep area. The other side of this countertop, also, overhangs for folding.
A small laundry was created to wash linens from the parties and towels from the spa (there is a larger laundry upstairs). The cabinets in the prep kitchen are painted a charcoal color to designate a different space and to complement the antique glaze finish of the butternut wooden cabinets in the main kitchen. With its stainless steel appliances and clean lines, this prep kitchen represents efficiency.
The chef or the lady of the home can still WOW the guests with cooking feats at the large induction cook top in the fully equipped main kitchen.
